Quick and Easy 1-Hour Projects

Updated: Feb 9, 2022

I am not a person with a lot of patience, so I like little projects that can be completed quickly. Luckily, there is no shortage of projects that only take an hour or less to complete! Check out these 7 quick and easy projects:

Washi tape art

Washi tape is beautiful decorative tape that is a lot of fun to collect! The problem I run into is what to do with all the washi tape that I have now hoarded. I started experimenting with washi tape art because I was inspired by Birduyen’s stunning prints.

Start a scrapbook

Scrapbooking is one of my favourite hobbies because it’s quick to start up and easy to consistently maintain. On top of that, I have something to look back on to revisit my favourite memories. Starting up will take around an hour, depending on how many things you have to put in your book and how much you want to embellish or decorate it. The first book I started was very simple, just a scrapbook I found in my house, some hoarded movie tickets, and a pink highlighter. After starting up, it takes only around 10 minutes or less whenever you have pictures or things that you want to add to your book!

Get started with all the info you need from my post on beginner scrapbooking tips.

Sock plushie cat

Sewing was the first hobby I ever learned. I promise you, it is much easier than it seems! Maqaroon has a simple tutorial on sewing a cat plush out of an old pair of socks:

Don’t have a sewing kit? Build your own with these essential tools.

Fuzzy sock plushie

If you want to try something a little easier and build your confidence with sewing, Maqaroon also has a 30-minute fuzzy sock plushie tutorial:

Crochet

I put this last because the following projects require a little bit of experience in or knowledge of basic crochet techniques. If you are learning crochet for the first time, you might have some difficulty completing these in only one hour.

Crochet scrunchie

This is the simplest of the crochet projects, and you can use any color (or multicolored!) yarn you want. Doradoes has a great tutorial that I like to follow. The only departure from the tutorial that I make is that I like to start with a magic circle. In summary, it’s easy and there is no counting necessary.

Crochet heart

This is where things start getting a little difficult. I did not have a lot of crochet experience when I started making amigurumi so I really appreciated having the video tutorial from Club Crochet to follow along to.

Crochet whale

Finally, the cutest of them all, the whale. Knit Grit has made the most adorable creation and best of all the pattern is FREE! I highly encourage you to try it out for yourself. Honestly speaking I had so much fun, I ended up making an entire army of whales.

There you have it, 7 projects to start and finish quickly and will leave you satisfied with your creation. Did you try to make any of these projects? Do you have any other 1-hour crafts? Let me know by dropping a comment below or sending me a message on Instagram or Twitter at @thenerdiyblog.
